This is one of those lucky images that I had no idea existed. I was at Hunting Island State Park photographing the driftwood ghost trees and started talking to a group of local photographers. After a while they asked if I had been to Coffin Point Road to see the Avenue of Oaks. When I replied that I had not, they gave me detailed instructions on how to get there. What a great discovery!

This image from Hunting Island State Park was almost unusable because of the blowing sand and drizzle. I was able to cleanup the larger specs using Photoshop’s Remove tool. This made the image suitable for website viewing, but no way could I print it at the native 20×30 inches.

Nice composition, poor execution. The background tree trunk looks sharp, the foreground branch does not. I should have focus-stacked this image with another image focusing on the foreground branch. The background sand and vegetation are nicely blurred thanks to the wide aperture setting. Overall, close, but no cigar.
