Daly Mansion Wallpaper (click to enlarge)
This image shows a section of wallpaper in the Daly Mansion in Hamilton MT. From a photographic standpoint there is nothing great about this image. What is amazing about this image is that this wallpaper is hand painted! When you look at the repeating patterns around the room, all of them appear nearly identical but each is hand painted.
This wallpaper is in the first room in the Daly Mansion that serves as the souvenir shop where you pay your fee. I cannot imagine the talent and time it took to do the wallpaper in this room.

This image shows the detail in a radiator at the Daly Mansion in Hamilton MT. As with the previous Gloves on a Bed post, I originally thought to make this a black and white image. Like the gloves, I decided the black and white conversion did not exactly look the way I wanted.
I think the natural color gives more of an antique feeling to the image than the black and white version. The original colors also shows the shift in the tint of the paint as you go from the right front to the back left of the image.
I really like the repeating patterns, especially with the circles starting about mid-image and moving to the left. They did not allow tripods in the mansion when I was there. If they had, I would have taken several images with different focus points and then stacked those to get a sharp image along the length of the radiator.

Gloves on Bed (click to enlarge)
While in Montana we toured Daly Mansion in Hamilton. The grounds include an arboretum and botanical garden. Photographer or not, Daly Mansion is worth the stop. The tour is very informative and the mansion is full of little details for photographing.
One of the bedrooms has a pair of ladies gloves set on a bedspread. Given that these were cream colored gloves on a cream covered bedspread, I figured it would make a good black and white image. Once I converted the image to black and white, I realized that the creme color actually added to the image. Instead of black and white, the natural color gives the image a sepia type finish. As you see above, in the end I left the original coloring.
