Twenty minutes from Wupatki National Monument is Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument. Unfortunately, I had little time to spare during my drive from Grand Canyon National Park to Yuma Az, so I only spent a few minutes at the visitor center.
Looking at pictures in the visitors center there appears to be many photographic opportunities within the park. Sweeping landscapes and lava fields galore could keep a photographer busy for an entire day. This is on my list of places to spend more time in on my next trip to the Flagstaff area.

This image shows the corner of a room within the remains of Wutapki pueblo. The triangular pattern of stone on each side and shadowed openings in the lower half of the image look like mirror images of each other.
I found it interesting that opening on the right side is shaded on the right half, while the opening on the left is shadowed on the left half. This is exactly how it would appear in a mirror. I have this image earmarked for potential use as a texture layer in some future project

This is the sunrise view that awaits after one scrambles down, and then up, to the plateau shown in the 14 February 2023 post. Shooting from that small plateau gives the image that hanging in space effect that could not be achieved from the parking lot overlook.
Remember, there are no fences along the edge of the canyon, so be very careful, especially during the hours of darkness. I recommend not going anywhere during darkness that you have not thoroughly scouted during daylight.
