Vitaleta Chapel, San Quirico Italy

This little chapel sits outside the town of San Quirico d’Orcia, Italy.  It was about a two hour drive from where we were staying at Le Torri Villa in the heart of Tuscany.  We drove to the chapel early in the morning.  After an hour or two of shooting, we went and toured Siena.  Unfortunately, I had to photograph the back of the chapel as it was facing the east and the sunrise.  Had I photographed the front of the chapel it would have been shadows with a blown out background from the rising sun.

I like the “bookends” of cypress framing the Chapel and the curving line of cypress tress leading the eye to the twin cypress.  I could have really used a more interesting sky.

Our schedule was such that we had to go to the Chapel in the morning or not at all.  Oh well, you go out when you can and work under the conditions at the time.
