Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

A “stacked focus” image of the Cape Hatteras lighthouse in Buxton, North Carolina. The image was made from two separate exposures, one with the focus on the lighthouse, the other with the focus on the sand and grass in the foreground.  Align and blend the images in Photoshop and you get nearly unlimited depth-of-field.

I think there is an Acadia National Park rule that requires you to see at least one sunrise from the top of Cadillac Mountain.  Here is one of my sunrise images.  As you can plainly see, you will not be alone.

The Cadillac Mountain summit was a 15 minute drive from our hotel.  Add time to get your gear out of the car, walk 10-15 minutes for a good spot, combine with sunrise at 0515, and you have one early morning wake-up call!

Gore Trail Signpost, Acadia National Park

If you ever hike around Acadia National Park, you will see these signposts all over the park.  This particular signpost points the way to the Gore Trail from the top of Cadillac Mountain.  In the background you see the Porcupine Islands and Bar Harbor.  Nothing special about this image, I just like the grain and weathered look of the signpost.
