Lava Drowning in the Ocean Mist

Nikon D810, 20 sec, f/18, 58mm, ISO 50
There is only one stop we wanted to make when we departed Hana to return to the more populated parts of Maui. We enjoyed the scenery at Ke’anae Peninsula so much on the way to Hana, that we wanted to spend time there on the. return trip. We also need to stop at Aunty Sandy’s Banana Bread to stock up for the next few days.
This image is a 20 second exposure using a variable neutral density filter. I set it for 8 stops to get the 20 second exposure. This extended exposure turned the white waves into a nice mist.
