Hazardous Ceiling at the Asylum

Here is the ceiling in line of the large rooms in the outbuilding at the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. The room looked like some sort of activity room. I don’t know why the paint is peeling in evenly spaced lines. Maybe not has something to do with rafters holding the ceiling up?
