Blinded by the Volatile Lights of the Asylum

Nikon D810, 30 sec, f/7.1, 38mm, ISO 250
This is a three image composition taken during a night photography tour of the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. Each of the 30 second exposures captured one area illuminated with light painting:
- The open door
- The wavy lines down the along the right hand wall
- The wavy lines down the center of the floor and the circle at the end.
Given the long exposure time, as long as the person holding the light dresses in dark clothing and keeps moving, they should not appear in the final image. Tour photographers worked in teams for many of these light painting images. One person would do the light painting while the other hit the shutter release on both their cameras.
