Look at the details on door hinges within Iolani Palace. Can you imagine having that detail on the door hinges in your house? The palace is full of such details which make for interesting macro images.

I love seeing old desktops at historic sites (here and here). This is one of the royal desks located at Iolani Palace. I think there is the potential for a coffee table book with images and stories from historic desktops from across the country.

The entry stairs at Iolani Palace is one of the most photographic set of stairs I have ever seen; The wood and carpet details on this staircase are stunning. It is rather dark in the area, and they do not allow tripods in the palace, so I set ISO to 5000. This resulted in a shutter speed of 1/250 seconds allowing me to hand hold the camera without blurring the image. Unfortunately, the glare from the windows at the top of the image do add unsightly bright spots.
