Uplifting Faith At St Joseph’s Mission Church

St Joseph’s Mission Church is the first of three photogenic chapels on the road from the Molokai Hotel to Hālawa Park at the far eastern end of Molokai (Photogenic Church Number 2 here, Photogenic Church Number 3 here).

To be honest, this image required a lot of post processing to remove several eyesores. There was a tsunami warning siren protruding above the church, wires running from the front of the church to the left edge, and several logs and such in the foreground. I am not proud of doing it, but it results in a much better image.

During our limited time on Molokai, we paid a visit to Purdy’s Natural Macadamia Nuts. We had a nice time touring the property, cracking nuts, and chatting with the owners. It is a much different experience than the Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Visitor Center on the Big Island (which we also enjoyed). But then again, Molokai is a completely different experience than any other of the Hawaiian Islands.

A Bend in the Honoapi’ilani Highway

I found this vista while driving along the Honoapi’ilani Highway along Maui’s north shore. This is a very scenic route from Lahaina to Kahului (at some point it turns into the Kahekili Highway). Be advised, it is a very crooked road, rough in some places, and takes quite a while to complete. But it is well worth the effort!
