A collection of speckled rocks on Jasper Beach, located in Howard Cove, near the town of Machiasport, Maine. The rocks are fine-grained volcanic rocks called rhyolite. Its attractive appearance is also due to the polished surface formed by constant abrasion against sand grains. (http://www.maine.gov/doc/nrimc/mgs/explore/marine/sites/jun00.htm)
